Elk Creek Gun Dogs is a family-owned operation on 100 acres of irrigated farmland, skirted by forest with 2 ponds and bordered by Elk Creek on the North. The property is part of a Donation Land Claim taken out in 1852 and has been passed down through Ron's family. Ron is a 5th great-grandson of historical pioneer Jesse Applegate, the founder of the Applegate Trail.

Ron has had a passion for duck hunting and the dogs that love it like he does since the late 1970's. Our goal at Elk Creek Gun Dogs is to breed the kind of dog that will be a joy to have, whether in your house, yard, backseat of your pickup, or sharing a duck blind with. Our primary focus is Yellow Labs that are strong hunters, that have intelligence, personality, and good looks.

About half of the pups that we sell never spend a day in a blind or romping the fields and hills hunting upland birds. Therefore, it is important for us to match the pup to the customer. For example, we won't send one of our 100 pound "Bo" pups home with someone who likes to run hunt tests and Chucker hunt all day. On the flip side, a lot of people want a pal that will be naturally calm that they can take with them all day and will sit by their recliner in the evening. We try to accommodate both.
